gower
wyld clwb is located on the gower peninsula, the first region in the UK to be awarded the prestigious status of ‘area of outstanding natural beauty’. in our surrounding area we have access to all types of terrain: golden beaches, fields, abundant hedgerows, limestone cliffs, rolling hills, heathland, wild moors, woods, fresh- and salt-water marshes and grassland. check out the images below.
before the twentieth century the peninsula had poor roads and no railways, which meant that it had very limited access to other markets. this isolation meant that the inhabitants had to be self-sufficient by growing their own produce and raising livestock.
this area was full of market gardens a hundred years ago, but over time most of them were lost. however in recent years there has been a renaissance of growing co-operatives, community supported agriculture and innovative farmers. we are proud to partner with these trail-blazing producers who are making the most of the fertile gower terrain.
our events are less than 30 minutes from swansea and the mumbles, so if you are looking for an alternative and delicious evening check out our events page to reserve your place at our table.
