january

blwyddyn newydd dda! / happy new year!

a time to look forward and to reflect. this month is named after the roman god, janus, who had two faces: one looking to the future and one to the past.

as i look back on 2022, i am so grateful for such an amazing year. we moved to rhossili last december and since settling here i have been so inspired by the immersion in nature and connection with the growers here. everyday i am thankful that i get to live here, surrounded by the rawness of the seasons and magical plants. these acted as the spark to start wyld clwb, and share that passion and love for the area with others through our dishes.

i am forever grateful to the growers and local suppliers who have been my inspiration by providing me with delicious seasonal produce. the menus were based on what was available the week of the supper clwbs we ran last year.

community is at the heart of wyld clwb and the connections i have made with the wonderful people who have attended our three events last year has filled my heart with joy. i feel so lucky to have been able to share part of myself with these fabulous humans and to have been seen by them. i found this experience made me feel both vulnerable and fulfilled.

january can make you feel like you need to make bold resolutions or move quickly, but we are still in winter and this is an important time to rest. this month can also feel long and sad for some after the highs of the festive period, or like a fresh new start for others, everyone will be experiencing different emotions.

whichever emotion you are feeling, i would like to make a suggestion, be kind to yourself. this kindness could take many forms: from taking time to rest, making yourself an immune supporting meal, just being in nature or re-reading your favourite book. changes don’t need to be bold right now, spring will give us that opportunity in time. so go gently through this month and, as the days slowly get longer, may you be filled with calm and kind energy.

january is still cold and our bodies need lots of support so keep packing your meals with warming spices, mucus-clearing herbs, like black pepper, cinnamon and rosemary, to boost your immune and circulatory systems.

local |  kale // leeks // cauliflower // cabbages // parsnips // celeriac

wyld | alexanders // common sorrel // garlic mustard // winter laver // sea beet

full moon | 06.01 | wolf moon

new moon | 21.01

the wolf moon is named after the howling of hungry wolves lamenting the scarcity of food. i am definitely feeling this when i go foraging here, the only thing that is growing is alexanders!

as i look to the future am i so excited by the connections and collaborations wyld clwb will bring. i can’t wait to share all the delights of the produce available here throughout the rest of the year, as well as different locations we have in store for events.

our first supper clwb of the year is in collaboration with @farmco.wales on 7th january. celebrating all things plant-based. full of wholesome flavours and delicious probiotic (non-alcoholic!) cocktails. three-quarters of the spaces have already been reserved. you can book your place here. can’t wait to see you there!

all the best for 2023, may it be full of love, magic and adventures.
