through the portal

This week I've been feeling a kind of nervous excitement, an anticipation of sorts. It's hard to place exactly where it's coming from, maybe it’s accumulation of things…

There is something magical about this month, the scent of honeysuckle in the air, foxgloves swaying in the wind and swallows dancing in flight. It makes me think about this book I read a few years ago which described foxgloves as portals into other worlds, fairy kingdoms, realms of other magical-beings that exist but you can’t see them unless you travel through the foxglove portal. Whenever I see these enchanting pink stems, especially if they are grouped together I can’t help but think of what is beyond them. Have a look out for them, maybe you’ll see them too.

I’m catering my first wedding this month too (eek!). Such a massive honour that I’m so excited about. It's been truly amazing collaborating with a fellow creative who isn't afraid to dream big and push the boundaries of her imagination. Recipe testing has been a fun process, especially working to a client brief, it means I get to do what I love: nerd out on research and get lost down every rabbit hole! I’ll be sharing some of the behind the scenes stuff over the next few days, so keep your eyes on instagram.

It has also been great to connect with local growers over the last couple of weeks. I have missed that so much over the winter months and hungry gap. It was wonderful to get in the fields and see things growing again. It gives me such a creative boost and reaffirms exactly why I started wyld clwb: to share these local wonders with as many people as possible!

This time of year is also the anniversary of when I met my dear friend, Lauren Lovatt, in person. We initially connected when I did her Plant Academy course in lockdown 2020, which changed my future forever and set the foundations for the chef I am today. After the course I started working for Plant Academy (and still do!), and a few months of Zoom calls we decided to head to Kudhva in Cornwall with two other friends for the Summer Solstice. Kudhva were hosting a magical feast under the willow trees, and it was a dream. We slept in offgrid teepees, foraged for wild strawberries, fed the resident goats, bathed in the wood fired hot tub, pulled tarot cards during a cacao ceremony and cooked on an open fire. I was going through a really tough period in my life at that time, and so to escape to that place was like a dream, it was transformative and cathartic.

I received The Wheel tarot card and the mantra in the description was: 'Change is the only constant, and I am at one with this’. I think that this solar year holds a lot of change for me and I’m ready to embrace that as I go through the portal again.

midsummer night’s feast

I’m excited to share the menu for our magical Midsummer Night's Feast on 22nd June where you can indulge in delicious seasonal food, create enchanting flower + foliage crowns, experience mystical tarot readings and sing folk song round the bonfire.

This extra special feast falls on the Strawberry Full Moon, right between the solstice and midsummer, it marks a potent moment in the wheel of the year. A time when foxgloves sway gracefully in the warm breeze, and the air is perfumed with the sweet, heady scent of honeysuckle, creating an enchanting atmosphere for all who gather to celebrate the abundance of the season.

This event is in collaboration with pioneering chef, author, Plant Academy founder and dear friend Lauren Lovatt. We first met in person on the Summer Solstice in 2021 at a feast in deepest Cornwall, so it seems serendipitous that we should create our own three years later.

foraging clwb

May’s Foraging Club was truly a delightful experience. We were blessed to have the company of some truly wonderful individuals, all seeking a connection that transcended foraging. Building bonds with like-minded souls amidst the beauty of nature was an incredibly rewarding experience, connecting on a deeper level and believing in a quiet rebellion.

As always it was so magical to create pure imagination with my dearest friend Stacey, founder of We Are Woven.

There are so many exciting plants coming out in the next few months. Click to book onto our next event, more dates will be released soon:

Sunday 9th June (limited spaces)

Biggest cwtch to you all and I hope to see you soon!

Much love,

Jasmin xx
